Why it matters

It is not only the professional game

More than five million children and ten million adults play football in England. The average grassroots player has headed the ball around 15,000 times by the age of 16.

CTE has been found in young brains

Research has identified CTE in professional and amateur players, including teenagers. It can develop into dementia in adulthood.

Guidance is not protection

The FA is phasing out heading for under 11s. Above that age, training limits are guidance only. We want consistent legal limits.
