Collaborating across Footballing Communities

Our tailored programs address the specific needs of different levels of play, from young children just starting in the sport to professional athletes. This ensures that all players receive the appropriate guidance and protection.

Our educational efforts are comprehensive, covering the latest research on the impacts of heading, best practices for safe play, and strategies for coaches and organisations to implement our recommendations. We also provide ongoing support to help clubs and teams adapt to these changes and maintain a high standard of player safety.

All of our Head Safe Football work is supported by the FA and Premier League Guidelines that has banned heading in games for U12 players and recommends extremely limited heading for all age groups in training.

“Female footballers often experiencing higher concussion rates and different symptoms, like prolonged headaches and fatigue, compared to men, potentially due to physiological factors like neck strength and hormonal cycles. Recovery can also be slower, with symptoms lingering longer, and neck pain can be a delayed indicator, requiring immediate removal from play and medical assessment for any suspected injury to ensure proper diagnosis and management.”

Did you know?

50% of the England World Cup winning team 1966 died suffering from brain disease most likely caused by heading a football.

Today’s football weighs exactly the same as the 1966 ball and travels faster through the air!!

Safeguarding the next generation of players

The average 16 year old grassroots footballer has headed the ball 15,000 times in training and games. Today’s young players play more organised football than young players of the 60’s and 70’s making them more likely to suffer from long term brain injury and disease.
